Clearing a Path for Higher Achievement
The Gureghian Charitable Foundation levels the playing field for underprivileged students to become high-achievers
The Gureghian Charitable Foundation provides scholarships to graduates of Chester Community Charter School (CCCS) to attend some of the area’s most prestigious and highest-performing high schools. These scholarships allow qualified students to build on the solid educational foundation they receive at CCCS and compete at the same level as students from affluent school districts throughout the Philadelphia region. Gureghian Scholars make great individual achievements. And collectively they demonstrate the often overlooked potential inside of all young people, whether they come from privileged backgrounds or grow up with economic hardship.
For more than 20 years, the success of Gureghian Scholars has fueled transformation in an overlooked and neglected community. The GCF’s living legacy is its scholars: these role models offer inspiration and bring hope to future generations. The GCF was founded on a belief in the power of education when it is reinforced by the spirit of community. The resulting success stands as a testament to the potential within all students when someone believes in them.
Scholarship recipients have attended some of the area's finest high schools including (but not limited to): The Episcopal School; The Haverford School; St. Joseph’s Preparatory School; St. Andrews School; Wilmington Friends School; Tower Hill School; Westtown School; The Baldwin School; Archmere Academy; Wilmington Friends School; Tatnall; Salesianum; Cardinal O'Hara High School; Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast High School;Archbishop Carroll High School; St. Elizabeth’s School; St. Marks High School; The Christian Academy; Delaware County Christian; Padua Academy; West Nottingham Academy; Neuman Goretti; Ursuline; St. Thomas More; Merion Mercy Academy; West Catholic High School; Church Farm School; and others.
